~Story about us~
السلام عليكم I'm NUR ATIQAH MOHD YUSOF and age 21. I am majoring in English at International Islamic University Malaysia. Since high school English has been my favorite subject, and I have studied it very hard. Someday I hope to be a high school English teacher so i can educate students and let them discover how English can be so much fun! I was born in Kedah and basically my familly members are from the north except for my youngest brother. Im the second child and lucky for me im the one and only princess among the two princes. The three of us are 2 years away from one another. My former schools were SKKKLIA and SMSTJ. I was a technical science student when i was in school an i pursue my foundation in foundation of physical science in CFS,IIUM which is located in PJ. I decided to change to TESL as for my degree because i was interested in pursuing my degree in Bachelor of Physics but since the course has not yet offered although UIA has promised us, so it is my destiny to change my degree into art based course. However, i never feel reluctant to take TESL because i was in love with English language since i was in my primary school. I was too attached to my English teachers and both my favourite English teachers in primary and secondary schools are now my 'mummy angkat'. I am so into learning English language and mastering them so this is actually an opportunity for me to grab. Since i enrolled in TESL, throughout these years, I have improved a lot than i was in my secondary school. I have done a bunch of things related to English during the process. I used to have bad conversational English due to my lack of self-confidence as well as I always know how bad my grammar was back then. Since i expect perfection when speaking, in terms of grammar and pronunciation, i chose not to speak when I am not sure of the correctness of the sentences. Since then, I listen to more English songs, reading English novels, watching English movies etc. All of these activities have enable me to learn about current news and English expressions. I used to repeat any sentences or words which I found hard to say out loud fluently for many times until I got it right. That is also one of various ways I improved my English proficiency. But that didn't stop there, I still do the things I did in the past and it has never stop because language can never be mastered by anyone even if the language has been used forever. Learning language is a continuous process and it couldn't be more fun if you have your heart in learning it. I am now able to speak and write English better. I love to speak English when there is any opportunities given for example like giving speech and being a master of ceremony which requires me to use English. When texting, i love to text someone who loves to use proper English as i hate those who love to use improper English as I found it irritating and disrespectful. In summary, I'm an ordinary student with many dreams. I hope that I can be a good English teacher in the future and for you guys out there, lets start using English in our daily lives and make sure to use proper English. Dont be shy, just try! (: x love, NUR x |
Assalamualaikum, Hi everybody! My name is Diyanah and you can call me ‘Nana’ or ‘Yana’. Most of my friends and classmates in IIUM call me ‘Yana’ while my family members called me ‘Nana’ or ‘Along Nana’ since I am the eldest in my family. I was born on 26th October 1991 in Hospital Pontian, Johor Darul Takzim and currently I am 22 years old. As I had mentioned earlier, I am the eldest sister from 3 siblings, consists of 2 females and 1 male. My primary school days were quite colourful as I went to three different schools in three different states in my first three years of schooling. This was due to the fact that my parents went for further studies from 1996 till 2000. After I had graduated from my 3 years of kindergarten years, 1998 was my first year in primary school and it was in Sekolah Kebangsaan Tengku Mahmood Iskandar (1) in Pontian, Johor. Then, in standard two I went to Sekolah Kebangsaan Mengabang Telipot in Kuala Terengganu as I stayed with my uncle and auntie there. In 2000, when I was in standard 3, I went back to Parit Buntar, Perak and studied in Sekolah Kebangsaan Methodist in Parit Buntar, Perak. I stayed in that school for almost 2 years before my parents were transferred to Pontian, Johore in 2002. Due to that, I went back to my initial primary school, which is Sekolah Kebangsaan Tengku Mahmood Iskandar (1) in Pontian until my final year. My secondary school years were at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sri Perhentian in Pontian, Johore. In 2009, a few months after I had received my SPM result, I was offered to go for Foundation in Human Sciences at Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) IIUM and grabbed the opportunity and studied in Nilai, for one and a half years. Subsequently, at the same time I was offered a place for Accountancy Course in KPM Matriculation Programme in Kedah. Instead of going there, I preferred to go to CFS Nilai as I had a vision of becoming a teacher, being near to people rather than only papers. When there was an opportunity to fulfil my dreams to be a teacher like my parents came into picture. I grab the opportunity and applied for a TEASL course in the main campus. I managed to go through the Entry Exam and Interview and thus converted to TEASL course in main campus Currently, I am a 3rd year student majoring in Teaching English as Second Language (Bed TEASL) in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) or also known as UIAM. | ![]() |
